Privacy
SameSecond has no accounts, no ads and no analytics. It only handles what a watch party needs, and forgets it shortly after.
What the room server receives
- The name you type, shown to others in the room.
- Chat messages you send in the room.
- The address of the video the room is watching, and play, pause and position updates, so everyone's player can follow.
- A random ID stored in your browser, so the room recognises the host after a reconnect.
What it never receives
- The video itself. Each person streams from the site on their own account.
- Your passwords, cookies or anything else from the sites you watch.
- Your browsing outside the tab you start or join a room in. The extension only runs in that one tab.
- Voice audio. Voice goes directly between the people in the call. On networks that block direct calls it may pass through an encrypted relay that can't listen in.
How long it's kept
A room's state and its last 50 chat messages are kept while people are in it, and deleted 24 hours after the last person leaves. Nothing is sold or shared.
Hosting
SameSecond runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes connection data such as IP addresses to deliver the service and may keep short-lived request logs. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
